Okay world’s colliding!
I know Julia Child was a huge inspiration and teacher for Martha Stewart (albeit from afar as it was years before they met) and Martha learned to cook in large part from going through each recipe in Julia’s famous cookbooks – think Julie and Julia BEFORE the book/movie.
Well I stumbled on this video on youtube this morning and it is the cutest thing ever! Martha, fresh-faced and at the top of her game and Julia, the proud mentor. I can’t help but think about how in Julie and Julia, the Julie character is hurt to hear Julia Child didn’t think she was ‘serious’. I feel like I certainly see pride in Julia’s eyes knowing Martha learned from her as they interact here. I’m sure that meant a lot to Martha.
Have fun watching!

In addition to the other fall wreaths, runners and pillows you’ve been seeing on the Penney & Company Facebook page and Instagram, here are some more Fall and Halloween goodies, sure to get you in the mood for this crisp new season. Quantities are limited so pop in for a visit soon!
These paper pumpkins are an understated and imaginative take on the season. They look great mixed with real gourds and pumpkins including the tiny ones from the grocery store. Cluster them together on a mantle or the centre of a table.
These chunky glass votive holders in the shape of spooky skulls are a sophisticated take on Halloween and the skull and cross bones place cards and match boxes are just plain fun. Use the place cards on the centre of each plate at a Halloween dinner party or use to label goodies on your buffet table.
Graphic spiders with a black glittery finish look great hung in your front window or in the centre of a pretty mirror and these metal candle holders have a real Sleepy Hollow feel don’t you think? Boo!

Today marked another exciting day for Penney & Company as we were featured on CTV’s Marilyn Denis Show live coast to coast. It’s such an honour to be part of the Marilyn team and she is honestly such a genuine and gracious host and friend.
Today we spruced up a living room for Fall with cozy colours and textures with a bit of a Ralph Lauren, Navajo spin that’s timeless yet so ‘on trend’. Hope you enjoy!
Of course the coffee table, lamps, pillows and accessories are all available at Penney & Company now, so hurry in!
