Some of you may remember I have a thing for a camel back sofa with show-wood legs. I recovered a vintage one in aqua ikat for the store opening more than a year ago. I’ve recently picked up another one destined not for the shop, but for our own living room.
Here it is in all it’s 1990′s fabric glory! It’s the perfect size and scale and has a lot going for it. We like how it allows us to put our slipcovered tuxedo sofa in the bay window and still allows room for circulation. The curviness of the camelback is a good accompaniment to the square tuxedo so they can work together in the same room. Plus its elegant shape is equally lovely from the back, which is good because it will float in the room and be seen from all angles.
See what I mean by the two shapes working well together? Each has it’s own thing going on so they don’t fight each other. Ones all square and skirted to the ground and the other is curvy, buoyant and leggy.
And here’s what I mean about it having to look nice from the back since that’s how you enter the room. Now to decide on what fabric??? So far no eureka moments. We’ve got sticky fingers to consider these days so a precious and delicate print is not in the cards. But of course I don’t want it to be boring either. We shall see!
