I’ve recently secured two pairs of vintage chairs, each with interesting shapes and tired upholstery. I’m hoping to breathe some new life into them by reupholstering them in some zippy fabrics with a traditional spin.
The first pair are traditional wingback chairs that I’m having recovered in a red and white ticking stripe fabric. I was inspired by this gorgeous home with everything in shades of red and white and lots of traditional patterns applied in a loose casual way.
The second pair of chairs are sort of like tub chairs with skirts and casters, but with an interesting swoop in the arms. For these, I was inspired by a blue and white toile guest room in Aerin Lauder’s house that I’ve always loved. Yes, I’m doing blue and white toile! I’ve never done toile so I’ve got my fingers crossed. I’m hoping to avoid that fussy french look, but as usual, it depends on what you pair them with right?
Here’s some of the fabric as I was deciding at the fabric shop…
And here’s the toile I settled on…here’s hoping!
