Traditional Decor Plus Colour

February 11, 2013 by michaelpenneystyle

I’ve been eyeing some pretty traditional pieces of furniture lately and I know it’s a style a lot of people live with each day, so I was really inspired by the image below.  Just goes to show the power of colour to transform and uplift a space.  Dark wood furniture is handsome and classic, no doubt, but a fresh blue wall never hurt anybody!

Or if your piece its tired and not too precious, you could put the blue on IT!  Not for the faint of heart of course…

I love the blue. Our kitchen and dinningroom open on to each other. Our kitchen is blue and cream and the dinningroom is presently a cranberry colour. I want to paint it a pretty blue to tie in with the kitchen, but it would have to be a cooler blue than the blue in your picture to coordinate with the blue in the kitchen counter and tiles. I’m still looking for that perfect shade of blue.

I would love to paint my dining room that shade of blue…do you know the colour?

I love the owners collection of plates around the sundial mirror, also the up to date mirror behind the buffet and the hurricanes on the table. Great ideas :)
