Lots of people have a dream of one day converting an old barn into a living space. The lofty ceilings and rustic details, not to mention the bucolic setting seems to paint the perfect picture don’t you think? Well many dream, but Steven Gambrel (one of my fav designers) has accomplished it for a client in Virginia. Designed to repurpose old dairy barns on part of the clients equestrian estate (note the equestrian details in the decor), the barn now provides entertaining space. I can just imagine the parties here! Get ready to drool…
1. I love the mix of fresh punchy colour (like red/blue doors) with the muted muddy tones (walls, trim). Just such a dynamic combo!
2. The equestrian art as a gallery of black and white photos covering some walls – genius!
3. The repeated beaded board in a chevron design in the cabinet doors to echo the ceilings and barn-feel.
4. Chunky furnishings with just the right scale, pulled into intimate groupings and the balance of rustic, raw materials with fine.

Stunning!
dream home – a barn, an old school house or church – so many possibilities & ways to be creative…
This is so amazing.
