I don’t know if it was everyone’s cup of tea, but Lucy Liu’s Golden Globe gown was beautiful I thought. I’m no fashion expert but that Carolina Herrera romantic floral print had me thinking of whimsical, dreamy, colourful spaces for home. I love when someone steps out of the box and expresses a little spirit and verve!

The lines and colours and pattern are all beautiful on that dress, but I think they work better in home decor than in an outfit. Maybe with a little alteration to the scale of the pattern may help it to work better as a dress. When I saw it it reminded of the Von Trapp family drapery play-wear.
I hear ya! But I bet Carolina Herrera would take the classic Von Trapp reference as a compliment!
Michael
Most definitely!
Good Morning Michael… I love the cottagey, floral room vignette AND I absolutely loved Lucy’s look and had already posted it to my Pinterest Board, under ‘Dedicated Follower of Fashion” – she looked fabulous and was definitely my fav. I just re-pinned it from your blog (better shots). Thanks for sharing every day..
Hi Michael,
The sun is shining, new post from Michael with my favorite decor… and total agreement regarding Carolina Herrera’s wonderful dress!
Carolina has been a favorite designer of both my late mother and mine since 1980.
Wonderful memories of Bergdoft Goodman shopping, when my Mother would visit me in NYC while I was a student there.
You have a great eye, and picked the dress Jeanne Beker loved as well.
Fashion is a very personal choice. However its a first that Carolina Herrera, and drapery have ever been coupled in the same sentence.
Knowing Carolina for 33 years, I very much doubt she would be amused.
I somehow can’t think of either Michelle Obama or the late Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis wearing Carolina Herrera ( as they both are her past and present clients) and being dressed in Von Trapp family playwear…
Nor on my own wedding day. Where the word elegant usually accompanies the lovely Carolina Herrera now in her 70′s and the women lucky enough to be dressed by her.
Have a lovely day,
Alexandra:)
