As my nephew gleefully informed me (with a count-down calendar) yesterday – there are only a few days left until Halloween! I don’t usually go overboard on this holiday, but you never know, there’s still time. I did however shop around for a great selection of pumpkins yesterday at both Fresh C0 (pumpkins $1) and Vandemeer Nurseries in Whitby (for the more unusual, exotic varieties).
I’ve gathered this little family of pumpkins for another styling/DIY segment on the Marilyn Denis Show this week so I’ll be crafting my little heart out today. You’ll see how they turn out LIVE on Thursday’s show on CTV at 10 am.

Beautiful display! I’m with you on being low key for Halloween; pumpkins & a nice bunch of colourful Indian corn hanging on the front door. Just right. In the past I have carved a jack o’lantern when time permits & I have some cute luminarias I put out if weather permits. Happy Halloween, Michael! Hope you & Sara gave lots of adorable trick or treaters !
if you like pumpkins, check out http://www.worldsbiggestpumpkins.com. Here in NS, we grow BIG pumpkins, and even Martha Stewart has visited to watch the pumpkin Regatta which happens each October as a charitable fundraiser: people get in giant pumpkins (1500+ pounds) and paddle the pumpkin across a lake. Teams of two fit easily. It’s a riot, a fun way to make money for a good cause and something I don’t think you’ll ever see anywhere but here. Come visit!
Hey Michael,
Great display, but Vandermeers is in Ajax! If you’re interested in supporting local farms have a look at Linton’s, it’s a smallish farm in north Oshawa. Just follow Ritson north all the way to the end and turn right. They have the same selection you picked as well as a corn maze and all that good fall stuff. Their prices are pretty good too. Keep up the great work.
Just love everything that you do!
