I came across this shot on houseandhome.com recently and remembered how much I loved it! It was from a story on fashion-inspired rooms crafted by my friends Cameron MacNeil and Stacey Smithers of House & Home Magazine.
I thought this was a good example of an upcycled buffet or sideboard that would make for the perfect media unit or dining room storage in any home. Just a few coats of paint in a fashion-forward colour and you’re off! Cameron and Stacey went the extra mile and had a piece of marble cut for the top which takes this project over the top!
After looking around I found lots of wonderful examples of painted sideboards. Pick the colour and style that suits you best! So check it out and give it a try!

These are so fun! I love that yellow one!
i still like yours the best !!!!!
What colour would you say the one with the pussy willows and mixmaster is?
I find it hard to tell. It is the one I prefer.

I love them all. I have a dark wood sideboard. I bought it new a couple of years ago but, the dark wood is getting to me. Would I be crazy to paint it?
Love it!
Hi Michael, In your opinion, what would you use as paintcolor for a sideboard that will not become outdated after a season or two– black, grey or white?
I am currectly debating between those colors, and albeit part of me wants to use a mix of bluish grey color or the aqua which are popular this season, I do not have the energy nor time to repaint this furniture again. So I am thinking longterm.
Thanks, I appreciate your website. nice ideas.

Hi Ellie, I don’t think you’ll get tired of either black, white or grey but the aqua, maybe. I’d say between black or white you’re pretty safe with either – just depends on if you want drama and sophistication or fresh and cheerful, more beachy. I’m sure you’ll make the right choice for you!

omg…I love them all, especially the yellow one….beautiful!
Is the green one for sale?
