I was telling a friend recently that I don’t usually go for black painted furniture. Well this fall I may be changing my tune. I was really into a black painted armoire I saw from Restoration Hardware and some other pieces on their site.
I think they suit the cozy up for fall/winter feeling that’s getting me right now. And if you mix it with other pieces that aren’t too heavy themselves, this can be a look that lasts. What do you think?
In fact this trend reinforces the paint job I gave that media credenza recently…and I just got in a set of gorgeous black x-back cafe chairs you should really see…

I have a long black narrow table in my hallway..the table makes an elegant statement but wow, dust shows an hour after dusting..if I had a dust free house I would pick a lot more for my house ..I do like the idea of a tall piece..
I also have a lot of black furniture pieces and love them all.
Sorry I missed last night, Michael. I’m sure it was a great evening.

I like that the pieces are more of a charcol black. I’m fixing up an old piano bench and I’m using Wrought Iron Black by Benjamine Moore. Your pieces are beautiful. Looking forward to visiting your shop soon.
We have an apartment that I have decorated in cream and black. Lots of black furniture pieces, side and end tables, sofa table. I painted a round dining table and chairs black and upholstered the chairs in black and cream ticking. I have lots of pillows and accessories in colors that I like and changed them with the seasons. I ad fun doing it (about 10 years ago) and have not gotten tired of it yet.
How much are the chairs you just got in? Are there for of them?
The images from Restoration Hardware put me in mind of the decorated Halloween rooms that you see in the magazines at this time of year. Too Goth for my taste.
I hear what your saying. I think in an effort to be dramatic they go a little over board with lots of the shots we see in the catalogue and online, but in isolation, I’m still digging some of these pieces in sober, understated black. Plus, I’d always add in something completely different to make it my own. Halloween = not at 365 day a year thing, I agree!
