Whitby Harbour

June 26, 2012 by admin

Here’s just another reason why I love my hometown.  The Whitby Harbour is such a lovely spot for a sunset stroll, just like the one Sara and I took recently.  I took a few snaps, and then put the camera away to just enjoy the moment (the perils of being a blogger!).  The breeze was beautiful, the sound of the waves lapping, the scent of the old fashion roses planted everywhere…pretty blissful.  Yesterday I spent the day in downtown Toronto and got my fast-paced, go-go-go fix – but to be honest, I’m so glad I have this to come home to.

    Lovely photos.
It was great to get into your shop this past Saturday with my birthday gift certificate. It was hard to rein myself in with all the beautiful items to choose from, but I am very happy with my pashmina, baskets, hand dipped candles, and soaps. I will definitely back next time I’m in town to visit family. I still have my eye on those two chairs!

  2. Michael the Whitby Chamber of Commerce and City Council owe you big time. If it wasn’t so far east I might be tempted to move again.. :)

Really loved todays Sarah 101 episodes.. dad brought the wrong car keys, eh? Or were you really having one more latte? Just kidding.. both rooms were stunning and that rug 9×12 you found for $700 looked amazing coming out from under the bed..

Well Michael, another beautiful group of pictures from Whitby and I agree with Linda Borland-Fitzgerald that Whitby’s Chamber of Commerce owes you big time! I understand you feelings about the peace of the waterfront. I grew up on the water in Rhode Island and it was the best place to be and still is.
I happily found House and Home magazine July issue at my local grocery store yesterday! First time I have found one here in Western Massachusetts! I spent the evening loving every page, the house Sarah decorated on PEI and Tommy’s London adventure as well as everything else. I joined the facebook page and told them I am a fan of your blog! I got a message of welcome and as I am sure you already know, the people at House and Home just love you! It’s really fun becoming more familiar with all the wonderful people and things Canadian!

    • Deirdre… I agree with all you say about House and Home, Michael and of course our beautiful country, Canada. Rhode Island must be gorgeous and I can imagine beach and cottage style homes are abundant there. Lucky you! Lucky us!

Thank you Linda! Rhode Island is beautiful (at least to me). It has so much coast line and so many wonderful old houses and towns. As I said I am happy to be learning so much more about the heart of Canada and it people. I have visited over they years but have learned more about the style and feel of different houses and the people who love them from the years of watching the shows on HGTV and now Michael’s blog and of course Sarah’s. Now I also have the pleasure of reading House and Home. Yes, yes, lucky me and lucky you!

Love your blog – have been following for several months down here in New Brunswick, Whitby looks so beautiful, my neighbors moved there many years ago.

  6. Hi Michael, love these pics of the Whitby Harbour, I just live a couple of minutes down the road. It was great meeting you today at the shop! I’m so impressed with Penney & Co. and now have a new favourite place for home accessories and inspiration. As I mentioned today I wanted to feature your shop on my blog and here is the link:

Hope you enjoy and hope you have great success in your new endeavor!

  7. Yes, we are the Whitby Chamber of Commerce are very pleased to have a beautiful new store to shop at in the Downtown area! Thank you Michael – we look forward to shopping with you – thanks for bringing a spark to our downtown!

  8. I’ll be back in Whitby for a visit so soon, and I can’t wait to take my little one to the harbour, and all of the other great things. I’ll definitely check out the Farmer’s Market like you have suggested, and of course – will stop into Penney & Company as well! Enjoy your long weekend!
