I never know what to call these rugs – floakti? Moroccan? Beni Ouarain? Whatever they’re called they’ve been hot for a few years and they usually cost a mint! Here they are in some beautiful interiors.
These Beni Ourain rugs from John Derian cost about $5400.
Christine from So Haute did some high/low reporting including great examples from 1stdibs and Anthropologie.
Well West Elm has gotten on board and I was really impressed with the example I saw last week in store. Straight from the Moroccan souks, these are gorgeous, authentic examples. Check ‘em out – just don’t ask me what they’re called!

Gorgeous investment pieces! Wonder how they’d fare with three kids? Hmmmm.
Beautiful! We have a 8 x11 ‘rag rug’ made of untreated cream, grey and caramel wool which brings a similar aesethetic to the room. Although its not quite as hip, it withstands all that our kids throw at it!
Great post! The tribal graphics of Moroccan Beni Ourain rugs and Berber pillows pair well with contemporary or traditional designs. Our Beni Ourain shags have a simple harlequin pattern, a 1960s vibe and a price that’s half the cost in major rug dealers.
