Clean, Stylish Home Office

February 24, 2012 by admin

I’m looking to do a little re-working of my office at home.  This Windsor Smith designed room is going right on my inspiration board.

Designed by Windsor Smith; House Beautiful Magazine

There are lots of things I like about this room – the calm wall colour, the classic and luxurious drapes, the beautifully patterned rug.  But my favs are the English roll arm sofa (perfect for a nap when inspiration just isn’t coming!), the vintage portrait on the mantle (perfectly loose and quirky) and the black-painted tall chest of drawers and wicker desk chair.  Both are unexpected but totally timeless silhouettes and add some substance and sophistication to this space.  Hmmmm…now for my own mini-makeover…maybe I’ll start by cleaning out the closet!

  1. I’d LOVE to have a home office this large. Mine is teeny tiny and I share it with my two kids so there are three desks in there. Tough to make it beautiful.

    • I can imagine Dvorah! Maybe at least you can take inspiration from the colour palette and the decorative elements – like finding some old desks to paint out, adding a fresh colour to the walls and thinking of quirky or at least soulful art for the walls. I’m sure the three of you have fun in there together either way! Maybe you should push two of the desks back to back for a partners desk and have a board meeting sometime. Haha!

  2. My Favorite part of this room is the armchair against the far wall. I love wood accents with luxurious upholstery. Thanks for posting

  3. I love this room and everything you mentioned I love too! It looks a bit more trad than Windsor’s usual work but still is classic and timeless.

  4. I always like to come across rooms that aren’t arranged in a typical manner — this is one of them.
